Maws of Malice
3rd-level Conjuration (Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard)
60 ft. Range, 1 Action, V,S,M (* a few humanoid teeth)
You conjure a mass of twisted unnatural mouths around the target following them on their every move, craving for their life force and feeding on their fears. To counter their malice, the target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw against the caster’s spell DC.
If the target fails, all creatures within 15 feet that can see the mouths must additionally make another Wisdom saving throw to avoid becoming frightened of the target and forcing them to spend their movement to safely move as farthest as possible. If the target succeeds the initial Wisdom saving throw, it takes half of 5d10 necrotic damage and the mouths disappear with no other effect.
The target failing to resist the mouths’ influence, assimilates that they crave more targets. It knows that it can reduce their menace by standing next to another creature besides the caster. At the start of your next turn, the twisted mouths devour the target dealing 5d10 necrotic damage, if no creature is within 5 feet, and 2d10 necrotic damage instead to all creatures within 5 feet, if at least one creature stands next to the target.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d10 for each slot level above 3rd.
